I took these photos last December from the front yard of where I was staying in Santa Ana, CA. I noticed the clouds moving in towards the late afternoon, and figured it could make for an interesting sunset. I went inside, came back out a few moments later, and there it was!
They say a mackerel sky is a harbinger of rain. In fact, it did rain the next day, one of only two days it rained during the three months of winter I stayed in Southern California.
